Announcing SDLCAI
Where AI meets the software development lifecycle
Juho Vepsäläinen
SDLCAI brings software practitioners, engineering leaders, and researchers to Aalto University for a one-day seminar on how AI is changing the software development lifecycle.
We are launching SDLCAI, a one-day seminar on how AI is changing the software development lifecycle, on 13 October 2026 at Marsio, Aalto University, Espoo.
The ICT industry has gone through multiple major changes during its history. We moved from mainframes and punch cards to personal and mobile computing, and each shift changed how software was built. The broad introduction of artificial intelligence, especially large language models (LLMs), represents yet another change in how teams approach the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
It is on this framing that the idea for SDLCAI seminar was born. It is a spiritual successor to our earlier Future Frontend conference but with a more focused framing around the issues facing the software industry now. The event is called a seminar for a reason since the purpose is to bring together especially local practitioners while connecting academic and industrial views on the topic.
SDLCAI – 13 October 2026 at Marsio#
The first SDLCAI seminar will be held 13th of October 2026 at Marsio, Aalto University, Espoo. Aalto University provides the space. It is up to us as attendees to fill the day with discussion. Since it is a seminar, expect an almost overwhelming amount of content at a minimal cost. To keep it affordable, we have priced our tickets at 75€ including VAT, excluding lunch, and we've already planned an afterparty in the same location to make sure you have a chance to hang around with other practitioners after the long day.

Call for sponsors#
Sponsors help us keep tickets affordable while adding useful extras such as coffee, a DJ for the afterparty, a photographer, or perhaps a sketch artist. Our sponsorships begin from 500€.
Summary#
The schedule is still taking its form but expect a wide range of talks to help develop an understanding of what is going on at the industry right now and where we might be headed next. We will update the program as we get closer to the event, but there is enough information already to get a rough impression of what to expect. If this sounds relevant to your work, I hope you join us and share the seminar with colleagues who should be part of the discussion.
